Since 1971, the renowned Ara Acrylics have been a hallmark of artistic innovation and quality. Originally developed by chemistry professor Pieter Keune at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the paints were born from a deep understanding of materials and color theory. Keune's meticulous approach to paint-making, which involved using pure pigments, quickly gained popularity among artists. This success led to increased production, and by 1985, Ara Acrylics were available for sale in local art supply shops throughout Amsterdam.
In 2001, Old Holland Classic Colours, a world-renowned Dutch paint manufacturer, acquired Ara Acrylics. Note: The paint may become more sensitive to aftertreatment.
