Production of Old Holland Claessens canvas is still inspired today by the proven techniques and methods from the times of the great Flemish and Dutch Masters.

Old Holland Claessens Oil Primed Belgian Linen Canvas starts with 100% Belgian linen, made exclusively from natural flax. The linen is prepared with two coats of oil primer for a primed weight of 11 oz per square yard. Each coat of primer is applied with a knife, and the canvas is allowed to dry for three days between coats.

 

Once primed, the canvas is stretched around robust 13/16" stretcher bars and back-stapled to the frame for optimum strength. Expertly folded corners make it easy to re-stretch the canvas if desired. The canvas surface is medium texture  ideal for a wide range of techniques.

Available in 17 sizes from 6” x 6” to 36” x 48”. All canvases are supplied in packs of two. Only suitable for oil painting.
